Useful toolbar for finding books
I found a toolbar at: http://www.readingfanatic.com that is useful for looking for free ebooks or book recomendations & news. Has anyone else used it before? One link associated with it is a site called Freebook sifter that seems to link with free books through Amazon.

So, out of curiosity, it uses affiliate links in the search, right?

It does update often I think. Two that are on top now are:
The Haunted House: , http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...stfreebooks-20 and, As a Man Thinketh http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...stfreebooks-20 |

Funny how these toolbars are embraced by those who otherwise protest affiliate tags (and the toolbars violate the Amazon operating agreement for the affiliates, as well, almost always)

Toolbars are worthless
Both of the above resources link only to Amazon, which makes them worthless for non-Kindle owners.
Calibre's "Get books" feature is far superior. With Advanced Search, you can set a price of "0", and you'll find every free version of a particular book or author that's available. OK, it isn't a browser toolbar, but once you've done the heavy work of clicking once to open Calibre, and again to open "Get Books" (whew!), the payoff is great. |

I disagree with your assessment of both being "worthless." Here's why I disagree with you: If one has calibre, then downloading from Amazon and shifting to another format is the work of but a moment. After all, once you've "done the heavy work of clicking," (as you state), you're now only a couple of steps away from reading what you've acquired. I used to feel the same way about Amazon books, but integrating the necessary utilities to liberate and convert files when transferring them into Calibre and/or to my device has converted me.
