A simple 9.7" e-reader? (android, no stylus)

Is there a good 9.7 inch e-reader that's not really expensive, but it has just the basic features (like touchscreen and an Android OS)?
Does the stylus support really influences the price at this point?

I'd like something that allows me to read scientific books (with eventual support for simple notes and highlights through touchscreen) and manga

In this size, is there any particular reason you wouldn't just go iPad instead? There is no common eink device that large.
