Problem with Word 2003 TOC to PDF

Hi everybody,
I converted a Word 2003 document with a table of contents to pdf format from within Word using Adobe Professional 8.0.
The TOC works in the pdf file, but when I read it with my Sony PRS-505, a strange thing happens: when I use the down arrow of the joystick to go from one TOC item to the next, I have to push twice. The first time I push, a small rectangle to the right of the current TOC item highlights, the second push takes me to the next item. It's a if each TOC item has been converted to TWO links in the same line, instead of just one.
It looks like a bug in Adobe Pro.....
Any ideas?
