Tarkington, Booth: The Beautiful Lady (Illustrated). v1.1, 29 February 2012
This short novel is an unabashedly sweet and sentimental love story. Ansolini, a destitute young Italian in Paris, is hired to serve as a human billboard. He falls in love, sight unseen, with the "beautiful lady" who expresses sympathy for his humiliating plight. Soon after, by posing as a middle-aged man, he is hired as a governor/guide for a gad-about young American man, Rufus Poor Jr. (the despair of his father). Ansolini tries in vain to steer "Poor Jr." away from the night clubs and toward the museums, and meanwhile constantly yearns for his beautiful lady. Poor Jr. confides that he has been refused by the lady he loves, for she has met an Italian prince. Then, while the two lovelorn young men are sight-seeing, they encounter a lovely lady known to both of them . . .
----- Think you know what will happen? Are you sure? It's really short, take an hour to read it and find out. Seven full-page illustrations, chapter decorations, illuminated drop caps (really, really large illumination designs!). ======= Edit --- Re-uploaded. Updated epub, attempt to fix chapter break issue. Just a quick note, re-uploaded the book. Tried to fix a chapter break issue --it was breaking between the chapter head decoration and the chapter title. Hope I was successful.

This latest set of books you've made are beautifully done. The best I've seen on this board.
I see that you've stopped doing the Table of Contents in a table format which is helpful as Kindles don't handle tables well. I had to recode the TOC before converting. |
