Troubleshooting Books become invisible on my Kindle's Home Page

This has happened twice; a book I was reading suddenly wasn't visible on my Kindle home page in Sort By Collection view. When I used Find, it appeared in the find list and I was able to open it but it still didn't appear on the home page.
I thought I might have accidentally put it into a Collection but when I used Find again and Add To Collection, none of the Collections were ticked. The only way I could get it to reappear was to then add it to Collection, open that Collection and then move the book back to my home page.

The "Sort by Collection" view is pretty useless. Does the book show up if you sort by title or author?

What I'd suggest you do is add an underscore (_) character to the start of all your collection names, and then sort by title. That will give you all your collections sorted alphabetically BEFORE the books. I find that to be by far the most useful view.
