Amazon.com Books in our Sony Reader?
Hi!
I've just received my Sony PRS-900 and I was looking for some good ebooks to fill it. The problem is that even though I've checked the list of online ebook shops in that same forum, none of those stores seem to be selling the books I want. My question is: How hard/viable is it to download an ebook in amazon.com for a Kindle device and read it in my PRS-900¿ Thanks for your help! |

You have to de-drm it and convert it to epub. It's now hard, I've been doing it for a while, but it does take some effort and knowledge of what you are doing.

i have the 900 too. I have also found many book are not available as Epub that are older books.
Check the following places for books 1. Sony's books web site 2. Under Sony books, click on Google books on the screen on the right hand side. 3. Booksonboard.com is a good place to download books that will work with your E Reader. There are conversion things you would have to do at Amazon that are a pain. I would suggest sticking to the 3 options I gave. |

Following this site might give you some more information what it takes to get things from Amazon. Of course once something no longer has DRM it's easy to have Calibre or some other program convert it to epub.

The first two are O'reilly books and I'm pretty sure the Kindle versions don't have DRM so those could be purchased and converted easily, since O'Reilly themselves charge so much. Someone else can probably confirm that though. A few of these also may not be showing up only temporarily in some of the independent stores (Fictionwise, Books On Board, Diesel, etc.) due to the Agency 5 pricing setup still being worked out. Some of these sources might need Geographic Restriction workarounds to buy from. Some were available in more than the store I listed. http://inkmesh.com/ is a good place to search a bunch of stores at once. Last edited by AnemicOak; 05-19-2010 at 08:10 PM. |

And people wonder why I think DRM is bad?
