Stop Automatic Sync

I thought I read a tip in Wiki on how to stop the automatic sync but not I can't find it. Was I dreaming? If not, can someone direct me to the info please.

Just download your books from Sony Store via WiFi; thereby, bypassing the software sync.

In the Sony Reader software, under the Preferences menu, uncheck the box for "Launch Reader desktop when connecting the Reader device".

I have already set Peferences to not launch Reader software automatically.

I download the books to my PC and add them to Calibre and I can do that without using the software and therefore sync.

I assume I need to connect to the Reader software for any T-1 software updates and when I do that sync still starts automatically. I know I can just watch it and cancel but it would be better to have a way to turn off the automatic sync.

Any further suggestions?

No you don't. Sony published the last update also as a standalone file, which worked just fine.

Common opinion is that the new Reader software has a bug. If you uncheck all of the boxes on the sync screen to tell it "sync nothing", then it should remember that setting everytime you connect your Reader. At least that's how the old software works. For some reason it does not remember the setting and tries to sync every time.
