The same way you install the other firmware updates. The device doesn't care if you are "upgrading" or "downgrading" the version number. Whichever firmware update you put on the card when you reboot will get installed.

The only issue you may have is if the new firmware changes any of the data in such a way that it won't be compatible. For example, the zoom levels are saved differently between the beta and rc1. Not sure if there are any other "gotchas" with the note taking, etc.
As far as the firmware install itself though, that's all there is to it. You can even put the same version on a SD card if you need to reload it due to corruption/etc of the internal memory. I had a problem with my DR800 a little while ago and their tech support suggested reloading the same firmware, which fixed the problem. Nice trick to know... basically a reflash. |
