In Australia, the Number 1 song was, I think, Spirit In The Sky by Norman Greenbaum, though I've also seen reference to In The Summertime by either Mungo Jerry or The Mixtures. Good songs, all.

In the US, it was apparently Mama Told Me (Not to Come) by Three Dog Night...which is nice.
