With prior releases of Doukan, it was safe to install our JB **after** Doukan was installed.

Our JB **only** writes, it does not modify existing contents (either Amazon or Doukan).

In fact, KUAL has a set of Doukan launcher buttons available.
(Our most recent - NiLuJe's snapshot thread - JB will also install MKK at the same time - so that the device is ready to install KUAL).

Hello,
i have intalled duokan for my Kindle Touch (firmware 5.3.7.2) and the software works correctly.
I would to jailbreak my device before installing KUAL but when i put the bin file (got from kindle-jailbreak-1.10.N.zip file), the selection for Update your Kinlde is grey and so not selectable.

Do you have an idea concering the issue ?

i have put the bin in root directory of kindle Touch.
To answer your question, i have tried with other bin file (firmware update for instance) and the same issue.
Probably due to duokan 2014.

Or that method of jailbreak not working on 5.3.7.2.... Try using Kubrick instead.

Which Duokan 2014 version?

At one time, a user **had** to install Duokan **prior** to installing our Jailbreak.

As recently as a few days ago, Glofindel installed Duokan r5.16 followed by installing our Jailbreak.
And that seems to still be the required order (on a K4 at least).

So something else is wrong with your Kindle.

Ensure:

• There is only a single *.bin file at a time on your Kindle
• That the Jailbreak package you use comes from NiLuJe's snapshots thread.
  On this forum's index page, set the prefix filter to 'tools', click the 'show threads' button.
  You will find the snap shot thread title on the first page of the filtered index page.

It **was** working with 5.3.x, but may not be with this user's specific version: 5.3.7.2 .
Amazon has been "backporting" features to earlier devices, and I honestly don't recall if they broke our jailbreak on the K5 device.

Best that people use the one from NiLuJe's snapshot thread which has some added features.
(The one in the snapshot also installs MKK and makes it persistent across firmware updates.)

Then we can troubleshoot this problem for the newest JB rather than the older one.

That reads like the most recent version of both.

If you can still select the Amazon firmware, post what that firmware version is, as shown in 'settings'.

The Amazon firmware version is : Kindle 5.3.7.2 (2368910001).

Yup - same version that have had other reports today.
