Yes, that's right.

I bought the Kindle version just to check it out. I can't find any annotations. Can someone help me out here? Is there a setting to "turn on" annotations?

No, it's not annotated in that sense. It's annotated in the sense of having the essays at the end.

Ah...I thought there might be linked notes within the text. Thanks.

Having annotation is a good thing for the plays in ancient English. Specially as we're spoiled by the artful narrations 19th century afforded literature instead of the bare dialogue and setting of Shakespeare on paper. Annotations certainly provide more meat to the text. And provide Shakespeare scholars some job even in face of readily available public domain works...

Is it possible for one to create links between the supplemental essays and the relevant lines/scenes/acts/plays?

Sure you could create links.

But you'd have to open up and edit the Mobi, and at that point it's just easier to save yourself the $2.99 and cobble together your own version from the Project Gutenberg files or whatever.

Unfortunately, I already paid the $2.99... didn't realize the essays were public domain. The formatting is decent, so I'm not going to bother with asking for a refund.

The Riverside Shakespeare cost me over $100, so I'm not (too) annoyed with the money spent.

---

I noticed that "View Popular Highlights" is grayed out--does this mean that I won't be able to share my links/notes? I figure that if I'm going to go to the trouble of matching things up, I may as well share my work. The illustrations/paintings/photographs are especially in need of some sort of explanation.

Edited to ask: So, how would one go about creating links? Is there a DRM on the file that I would need to break first? Is there a handy way to create links using my Kindle... or do I need to use a separate program?
