Device: CyBook Opus
"Search in text" feature

Hello, I heave just bought my first eBook reader. I've chosen Cybook Opus for several reasons (price, resolution, ecc...)

The device is very good but...
The software hasn't the "search in text" feature! My software version is 1.9 (build 942). Do you know if in the next version this feature is present? Or if there are plans to implement it in the future versions? Is there a software mod that implements it? Or simply the "search" feature is too complex/heavy to be run in mobile devices?

Thanks for the answers!

The main difficulty is implementing a usable keyboard on a device without a touch screen. It tends to be only the touch-screen devices like the Sony PRS-600 which have search, for that reason.

Yes, but searching for words that appear on a page is trivial to implement since they already have the selector for the dictionary. I actually think that the reason might be that the MobiPocket file format is not suitable for searching.

The other reason could be that the Mobi SDK doesn't allow this. The dictionary search is done by the Mobi SDK. I don't know what functionnality the Mobi SDK give, but it could be a possibility. (And the Mobi SDK is a really closed one, you only get a binary with some entry points to let you use it with your own software)

PocketBook 360 has the same guts (Netronix) as Bookeen Opus, and yet, they have had no problem implementing on-screen keyboard.

I am pretty sure they use an index and an ordinary book does not have an index.

I wonder if the 360 is having the same lockup problems as the Opus.

But the iRex devices permit searches in a Mobi book, so it would appear to be possible.
