6-inch tablet? - Does one exist?

Let us pretend for a moment:

Let's say that I want a 'Kindle Fire type' (or 'Nook Tablet type') tablet reader with the same kind of screen as these units, but with a screen the size of a Kindle paperwhite or Kobo glo - in other words, a tablet with a 6-inch screen.

Does such a creature exist?

According to BestBuy in Canada there are 5" and 7" options only.

Lots of great prices on the 7" varieties.

Well, if you don't mind that it's also a phone: the Huawei Ascend Mate

You don't need to actually put a SIM in it. Things like the Samsung Galaxy Note II and this thing are, in my opinion, tablets that happen to have a phone built in

The GoTab Hive Reader looks interesting. It's rather cheap, too.

I wonder if it would also accommodate the Kindle and nook app.

Interestingly, it's marketed as an ebook reader - which is exactly what I was thinking about. I wonder how good that screen is.

Does anyone have one?

I wonder how the illegal to unlock your cellphone would affect using a cell device in a non-cell manner in the United States and probably soon to be Canada.

No impact at all. You don't need to unlock a phone in order to use it as a portable media device.

Seems kind of low on resolution (800 x 480, 155ppi).

I don't see how it would affect it. I sometimes use my old Galaxy S as basically an Android iPod Touch with the cell stuff turned off and just WiFi turned on and didn't have to unlock the device to do that.

The problem with most tablets is that they are 16:9 instead of 4:3.

Many people don't see that as a problem.

Try to find Samsungs first edition of Galaxy Note. It has not a 16:9 screen, actually the resolution is a bit higher on the first version, (800 instead of 720). And you could probably find it pretty cheap on the second hand market.
