How do I access footnotes?
The free Crossway ESV Bible has footnotes like this[42]. On my K2 I can move the cursor there, press the joystick to jump to the footnote text, then press Back to return to where I was.
But on my Fire, I can't seem to find any way to jump to the footnote. Is there a way? Also, the search functionality is broken in at least two ways: 1. It's slow because the book isn't indexed, and 2. You can't jump to a result and then go Back to the search results. It baffles me why Amazon would make their high-end Kindle slower and clunkier than earlier ones. Do you think it's just to save the time and memory that building and storing the index would require? |

I've never seen a Kindle Fire, but it is a touch screen device. That would normally mean that you simply tap a hyperlink to activate it. Does this not work?

Bear in mind that the Fire really isn't a "high-end Kindle". It's not a dedicated bookreader; it's a cheap tablet which can be used for book-reading.

I just tried using Kindle for Mac 1.9.1, and it exhibits the same behavior as the Fire. Perhaps "notes" are implemented differently on the Fire and the Kindle apps than they are on the K2? Whatever the reason, the result is a book that works on some Kindle platforms but not others. Last edited by Busirane; 03-03-2012 at 09:59 PM. Reason: Add Kindle for Mac behavior. |
