Geboren am 2. März 1859 in Perejaslaw bei Kiew; gestorben am 13. Mai 1916 in New York. Aufgrund von Pogromen emigrierte er 1905 aus der damals russischen Stadt Odessa zunächst in die Schweiz, 1914 in die USA, wo er bis zu seinem Tod im jüdisch geprägten New York wohnte.
