Would perhaps have been a good idea to give a url to the page, most people are to lazy to search, especially when the authors name is incorrectly spelt.
To save people who are not interested in christian claptrap searching for it, this is what is seems to be. |

Sorry for the mis-spelling of the name... the link was an obvious idea that just didn't occur to me... duh.
Anyhow, thanks. |

I watched the “one true media” presentations and quickly reached the conclusion that I don’t need to learn “why the name of God has been replaced in the Bible 7,000 times.” I already know most of the reasons why. First and foremost is that the Hebrews considered the Tetragammon (YHWH—considered the most sacred of the names of their deity) too holy to pronounce except once a year in the Holy of Holies and then only by the High Priest. Because there are no vowels in ancient Hebrew, over time the ‘true’ pronunciation was lost; it could have been anything from Yahweh to Yoohoo-Wahoo. To this day, observant Jews will not attempt to pronounce the name, and even write the word 'God' as 'G_d'. Following their lead, the English Bible translators of the King James Version chose to render YHWH as “LORD” (all capital letters), and other names, such as (the plural) Elohim as “Lord”. Most English versions since have followed this standard.
Where YHWH came from is difficult to determine. He appears originally to have been a minor deity; one of the sons of El, the chief Canaanite deity who was the head of a whole Pantheon of lesser gods. El's name survives in such words as IsraEL, ImmanuEL, and SamuEL. El’s wife was the mother goddess Asterah, and as the two deities blended together over time, Asherah eventually seems to have become associated with YHWH. Archeologists are still finding inscriptions of dedication to “YHWH and his Asherah.” Other hints of the polytheistic origins of YHWH can still be found in passages such as Deuteronomy 32: 8-9 (New English version): When the Most High [Elyown] gave to the nations their inheritance, when he divided mankind, he fixed the borders of the peoples according to the number of the sons of God. But the LORD's [Yahweh’s] portion is his people, Jacob his allotted heritage. As for The I AM Principle by Kimberely Fuller, it appears ardeegee is right. This book doesn't appear to be standard Christian claptrap. Judging from the way it is advertised, it appears to be a whole new level of claptrap! Last edited by WT Sharpe; 04-07-2010 at 02:11 PM. |

And I could really get behind worshiping a god named Yoohoo-Wahoo. Especially if that god was a naked chick riding a great white shark. Because I find it difficult to imagine a more badass god than that. |
