Short answer: No.

The Reader runs Linux on an Arm processor, so installation of Windows binary code like IE directly won't be happening, at least with Sony firmware.

Long answer: Perhaps, but not yet

The http://blog.openinkpot.org/ Openinkpot project is an effort to create truly open firmware for readers, among them the 505. If it comes to fruition, we'll be able to run FBReader, which supports a plethora of formats, HTML & Mobi among them. Right now, if you're looking to import HTML pages to the 505, Calibre http://calibre.kovidgoyal.net is your best bet.

It is very straightforward to convert html into other formats.
CassidyM has pointed out that you can save html as a doc, (which the Reader will automatically convert into rtf).
And there are lots of free conversion programs. For the Sony Reader there is Calibre, Book Designer and html2lrf.
