Sony PRS-900 in the UK
Ok, eBook fanz - I've imported a PRS-900 into the UK but want to enable the 3G. Looking at underside there's a preinstalled Sony Ericcson F3507G module - I think I can whip it out and replace with an unlocked Dell 5530 +3G SIM (compatible with UK frequencies).
Question is : Would this work? Would it need configuring with my network provider? Also, how can we circumvent the PRS-900 going straight to the Sony eBook store? Really I wanted a web browser or at least a button redirect to a URL of my choice. Any reverse engineers want to give it a go? |

As far as I know, there's no way to get the PRS900 to go anywhere other than the Sony store. I would be mightily impressed if you even got that to work, given the difficulty of changing what the software on the device is doing.

It does sound like a pipe dream. However, there might be some tricks you could do with a femtocell (e.g. Vodafone Gateway)
