Zu Jeffery Deaver: "Der letzte Tanz" gehört zur Reihe rund um Lincoln Rhyme, einen genialen querschnittsgelähmten Ermittler. Jeffery Deaver ist ein sehr talentierter Krimiautor, der vor allem mit senen Charakterbeschreibungen brilliert. All zu Empfindlichen ist aber abzuraten, da Deavers Krimis auch schon mal ziemlich blutig geraten können!

Ich bin jetzt mit Moby Dick fertig (der ungekürtzten Fassung). Kann es wirklich nur weiterempfehlen, was aber wohl nicht wirklich überraschend ist. Die Sprache und die genauen Beschreibungen sind wirklich beeindruckend. Besonders die vielen Vergleiche und Meraphern haben es mir angetan. Auch historisch erfährt man sehr viel Interessantes, besonders natürlich über die Waljagd. Philisophie kommt auch nicht zu "kurz".

Ich lese gerade "Der Erbe der Nacht" von Hohlbein und Phainomenon von H.D. Klein auf dem Reader und "Asche der Welten" von Kevin J. Anderson (super S.F. 7 Teiler!) als echtes Buch. Bin schon seit 20 Jahren Fantasy und SF süchtig. Bin daher froh über den Reader weil es wird langsam eng in meiner Wohnung.

Hallo zorander und (leicht verspätet) herzlich willkommen bei MobileRead! Das Problem mit der zu engen Wohnung bzw. der begrenzten Regalfläche war wohl für einige (mich eingeschlossen) ein Grund, sich einen ebook reader zuzulegen.

lese jetzt den 2. Teil, Eldest, danach dann natürlich Brisingr.

Eragon ist für ein Debüt ein verdammt starkes Buch!

Wenn amazon endlich mal meine Vorbestellung liefern würde, würde ich den zweiten Teil von P. Rothfuss' King Killer Chronicle lesen. Ich fürchte, da ist was schiefgelaufen, die sind ja ansonsten immer überpünktlich.

Muss ich auch sagen. Die Bücher sind wirklich spannend. An seinem Schreibstil könnte Paolini aber schon noch ein bisschen feilen.

Ich finde dass die deutsche Übersetzung von Moby Dick dem Original in keinster Weise gerecht wird. Eines der Bücher, die man definitiv im Englischen lesen sollte.

Melville's Stil springt Dich an, packt Dich an der Kehle und lässt Dich nicht mehr los bis zum mehr oder weniger guten Schluss!

Ich hatte auch bedenken wegen der Übersetzung und habe ein paar Übersetzungen verglichen. Die Neueste von Matthias Jendis hat mir eigentlich recht gut gefallen. Ist auch die, die ich jetzt gelesen habe.
Aber es ist schon klar, dass an dass Orginal wohl kaum ein Übersetzer herankommt.

Edit: Zwischendurch habe ich den Kriminalroman von Eliot Pattison "Der Fremde Tibeter" gelesen. Kann ich nur empfehlen. Man rechnet wirklich nicht damit wer der Täter ist (ich zumindest ). Zudem erfährt man auch etwas über die tibetische Kultur und Religion zur heutigen Zeit.

Da ich im Moment nichts anderes zum lesen habe, habe ich jetzt mal mit "Sofies Welt" angefangen. Die ersten 60 Seiten gefallen mir schon recht gut.

Erfahrungsgemäss wird der Haufen immer grösser und nachher hat man mehr Bücher vorliegen, als man je lesen kann (und es kommen immer wieder neue dazu)

Wie wahr, wie wahr,
und aufräumen ist nicht drin, man könnte ja noch irgendwann mal dazu kommen das alles zu lesen...
