Calibre won't recognize PRS-505 or Nook

Calibre hasn't recognized my Sony PRS-505 for a while now; I'm not sure what version the problem started with. "Debug device detection" gives me this:

I wasn't too worried about it, since I planned to switch to my Nook once it got here... but Calibre won't recognize the Nook either. "Debug device detection" gives me this:

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Calibre, but it doesn't help. I don't think it completely uninstalled, though, since when I reinstalled it already knew where to find my ebooks.

Calibre used to recognize my PRS-505 just fine, so I don't know why now it won't recognize either of my readers.

I'm using Windows XP, and have version 0.6.32 of Calibre.

According to those messages you posted it looks as though Windows is not seeing them either! If Windows does not see them then Calibre will never see them.

But I can transfer files onto the Nook directly, via My Computer... so how could Windows not be seeing it?

The problem is with the WMI susbsytem on you computer. calibre uses WMI to query the operating system for devices. The operating system in your case is reporting incomplete information via WMI
