Sony cover hinge problems?
Both from an aesthetic and an engineering point of view, I don't like the corner straps used by M-Edge to hold the reader in their cover.
I do like the approach Sony took when designing holding bracket for their reader cover. However, I'm concerned about the long term durability of the plastic material in the clips. Has anyone had a problem with the clips wearing out, or breaking? |

Provided that you leave the device in the cover (which there's really no reason not to) they should be fine. I'd imagine there may be an issue if you were to constantly take the cover on and off.

My one on the 505 broke with dropped 2 inches into a foam mattress...
I replacd it with a tuff-luv cover from inique, and never looked back. |

Mine broke in the first couple of weeks I had it. I didn't even fold the cover around behind the Reader; normal open-and-close activity, and whatever angle I read at, must've strained or twisted the plastic enough to break it.

Some have problems whereas I do not. I have the original cover and the premium cover for the 505 and over the past 18 months both covers are fine. Maybe once a month I will switch covers and the plastic spine is holding up well.

Mine is a bit harder now that the weather finally went colder, but mid September, when I began to use it for my PRS-600 and the weather was hot, it was sensibly mellower. I'm using it with great care (harder usually means more prone to break!) and I'm waiting for the M-Edge cover.

I bought the cover for $29 when I bought the reader. I brought it back within an hour. It is not worth $5. Since it was sealed in the box I could not tell the material but at that price I assumed it was leather. Boy was I fooled. The slip case that came with the reader is 10 times better.

I've never had a problem with the cover that came with the 505, and I've owned several.
