Netflix:New Experience Now Available for All Android Tablets (iPad Coming Soon)

1) This new interface seems to be part of the Nook and Fire launches, but all Android tablets will benefit-an approach we may see a lot in the future. 2) This is one of the first times I've seen a major release for Android tablets *before* going to iPad-probably due to the Nook and Fire, and also an approach we may see a lot in the future. |

Adobe also announced their products in a similar manner, first for Android then for the iPad.
I'm not sure if this is out of practicality or from marketing. But a lot of companies are starting to use cross development tools to develop for Android and iOS. Considering that Android has a faster app acceptance process chances are we are going to see this more and more. Adobe’s Full Suite of Touch Apps Are Now Available For Android Adobe Touch Apps family Personally I think Adobe is starting a new trend here. These products are "Productivity" products that are completely designed with the tablet in mind. My criticism of the tablet space was the lack of "productivity" apps for tablets. If more and more developers start delivering these kinds of products the tablet market have an explosive growth even more than today. =X= |

@KJK: Re: #2, I thought the same thing--I wonder if this indicates a pending swing by developers towards Android and away from iOS as the platform of choice.

iPad demand said to be fading as competition(K. Fire) heats up Personally I think the developer who develops for both platform will be the winner. While we get a lot of iOS vs Android here I think a larger amount have both platforms and covering both will allow a developer to sell both products. Incidentally the "Adobe Photoshop Touch" requires Android 3.1 or higher. This is the first app on the android platform that really has me pondering if it might just be time to upgrade my nook Color to a 10" tablet device. =X= Last edited by =X=; 11-15-2011 at 02:52 PM. |

The process on Android is simpler: you can develop on Windows, Linux or Mac. You can run your app on any device before you publish, and you only have to pay a 1 off fee of $25 to register as a developer. If you only want to develop for the fun of it, or to write apps for your personal use, you don't need to register.

I'm not sure, but I'm guessing the numbers on Android have climbed over time. |
