exth type, exth data

On the top right of the excellent windows gui version of the excellent mobi2mobi program there is a field for exth type, and another for exth data.

Could someone tell me please what these fields are for and how to use them?

Regards, Alex

It is for low level experimenting. The input is assumed to be numbers and an entry in the exth data is created of the type and with the data interpreted as a number as value. It was introduced to be able to test what happens if you change or add some fields. In mobi2mobi there is also a flag --delexthtype which can be used to remove an entry in the exth data.

Thanks again, Tompe. I guess people who don't know they are doing should ignore these fields?

The only example I have seen of this is practice is:
Code:
mobi2mobi --outfile [output filename] --exthtype updatedtitle --exthdata "[Corrected Title]" [original AZW filename]
This can apparently be needed to change the existing title of AZW files. See Change book title to remove typos and extraneous info?.
