Customs, I think it depends. In my massive history of internet shopping I was billed just once for a poster. Yes, a paper one! Quite ridiculous. But what I could gather, Fedex and couriers bill you when you receive it- it's more or less what happens in Italy for not-EU products (apparently, Hang Kong is in the EU, because anything we got from there wasn't billed... go guess ). |

Play is at least cheaper than waterstones, and what with the customs + admin + delivery, that *will* be cheaper than buying from the US, even with the funky currency conversion.

interesting that play says the 15th, when waterstones says it's sending them a full week before anyone else in the UK. |

Yes, looks like Waterstone's are getting another week of exclusivity.

Same old story, europe and in this case britain gets ripped off again, now its fair enough them charging more to cover the cost of vat and other additional costs, but the sheer extent of the mark up from most companies just makes it seem like they are actively trying to discourage people from buying at times or do they simply not realise how simple it is for people to spot the price differences with the internet.

Not just europe, it's the same story in canada. 299 US$ equals approximately 325 CDN$ but Sony wants 399 CDN$.

It's actually not as bad for us as "normal". As least for me.
A lot of products that come to the UK at a $1-£1 mark-up. |

Can't disagree, but the point had to be made, that we could have expected worse.
And EU law is _far_ more stringent for consumer protection than the US and the UK tends to give any EU directive a "golden lining" (by implementing the stictest interpretation possible) |
