3.1 usbNetwork: Connect Refused

I need help with usbNetwork on a K3W running 3.1. Bottom line is that I am using windows XP to try and connect but I keep getting 'Connect failed' or 'Connection Refused' errors, regardless if it is telnet or ssh. I am able to successfully ping the device, but not connect. Here was the process I used to get to where I am:
  1. Jailbroken
  2. Install usbNetwork.32.N, reboot, and update.
  3. in Linux, connect to device and change the /usbnet/etc/config file (with vi):
Host IP: my PC IP address (10.10.10.196)
    Kindle IP: 10.10.10.96
    NO other changes
  4. Disconnect device
  5. ;debugOn
  6. ~usbNetwork
  7. ;debugOff
  8. Connect to PC.
  9. At driver prompt, install driver from: http://www.davehylands.com/linux/gum...bnet/linux.inf. (Incidentally, the following website is very helpful: http://embedded.seattle.intel-resear...ting_up_USBnet)
  10. Went into network connections, found the Kindle connection, set the IP address and gateway both to 10.10.10.96 (Kindle IP used above).
  11. In command prompt, 'ping 10.10.10.96'. Success!
  12. In command prompt, 'telnet 10.10.10.96'. Connect Failure.
  13. In Putty, try to SSH to 10.10.10.96. Connection Refused.
I confirmed the IP addresses and all looks correct. ANY ideas what I am missing??

Try turning the wifi off on your device.

dasmoover,
I made two changes and it worked...in XP and Linux! One of them, as you figured out, was to turn off wifi. The other change was to use a completely different subnet for the k3 and my laptop connection. My "normal" network was 10.10.10.x. I changed to 10.10.99.x for just this work. I am guessing that this forced the proper route for the traffic.

Case closed.

Thanks!!

ahonamous- what jailbreak did you use? I've been trying to use Yifan Lu's jailbreak for 3.1, but I keep getting U004, U006, and U007 errors. I need to be able to SHH or telnet to the Kindle.

Never mind, got it working. Now I just have to figure out how to image the Kindle through ssh or telnet onto a Windows 7 box.
