Hi,
I just tried the plugin (on 2.1.6 r44084) :

-clock works but is quickly replaced by % of reading
-chapter works with kepub book on main memory, but not with epub book on sd card.
-wishlist is still displayed in homepage
-discover is still discover in homepage

By the way, would you share the sources of the plugin that I have a piece of code to start with ?

Could it be that you are trying the plugin on a Kobo Glo?
The plugin is developed for the Kobo Touch. I don't know if there are any Layout (GUI Changes) in the Glo which could render this plugin useless.

Which firmware version are you using? 2.1.4 or 2.1.5?

This explains a lot.
So far all features work quite well on a Touch.
It seems Kobo has changed the Layout a little bit for the Glo especially on the homescreen.

I'll push the code to my repository this weekend. Maybe you can adapt it for the glow. A good starting point would be to get gui elements on the homescreen using ah's qtscript plugin.

If I could send me this output I can try to adjust the plugin so that it works with the Glow.

Hi there, newbie here. Just purchased a Kobo Glo and started following this forum.
First of all thanks for your work on the Kobo!

Here's a visual clue of what happens to the Glo interface while using your plugin. Clearly the light intensity slider gets in the clock's way, or the other way around:

1. Screen light off

2. Screen light on:

This is an epub file I'm reading. I am on FW 2.1.5.

By the way, the big bars on the top and bottom of the screen do not disappear when going to the next page, as they usually do (at least the top bar does). I have to go to <home> first, again open the file I'm reading and then the bars disappear.

Is the option 'compatFirmware' still 0.0.0? The firmware version check doesn't work yet.

There is some logging in the plugin which is written to stdout.
You'll have to change /etc/init.d/rcS to pipe the output of nickel into a file.

koboplugins.ini is actually just what you last uploaded, plus the showClock line - and compatFirmware is definitely still 0.0.0.

Updated rcS, I end up with the following in the log:

Curses - I installed this plugin on my Kobo Touch (2.1.5) - got the Processing screen, I powered it off, on again, went into Library, opened a book, went back to my home screen - and nothing happened.

I'm wondering if this could be because I've got one of the "dud" Australian devices, the ones that have had such major issues with accepting firmware upgrade in the past?

I just tried on my "recalcitrant" Australian Touch. The clock and progress indicator are there when reading. The Home screen changes weren't made.

There shouldn't be a problem loading this. The issue for these devices is the code in the original firmware. This gets replaced after the later firmware and will work from no on.

The first time I installed it on 2.1.4, it was working fine. Then somewhere in there I turned the device off, and back on, and its never worked since... and I got mine at Borders here in the US not long after they came out...

Just for the heck of it, I even backed everything up, did a factory reset, did a manual upgrade to 2.1.5 - I then copied over a single book, and the plugin, and nothing. Re-installed telnet, and the file is definitely there, and nickel output what I posted above - hopefully something simple is going on, and we'll figure it out here before too long

Good news! I did it again, and this time it seems to have worked. Maybe I munged something the first time (though I think I just did it the same way), or maybe it needed twice to take, or something else.

The changes are terrific - thankyou! Now if only Kobo will bring back a home-screen shortlist (or, better, shelf of the user's choice), I'll be happy.

One small suggestion - it might be a good idea to update the first post in this thread with the more current plugin versions? Thanks.
