Returns are a constant. They are an insignificant percentage of sales. At first I was worried but after reading on forums from other publishers who shared their return rates, I didn't worry about it. Shopping in the U.S. is all about returns. People try it and then return it. They may even keep a copy.
I encourage people to email me with all questions and concerns. Most often, people do not know how to use DVJ or some other issue that is fixed by education (for example, the usual Ps 119 is numbered as Ps 118 in some translations that follow the Septuagint Psalm numbering; people accused me that their Ps 119 is missing verses!). There were a few instances when there was an oversight on my part but I have always addressed those almost immediately and posted here. |

We are working to update our Bibles to be more friendly to touchscreens. The hardware keyboard Kindles are still preferable for Bible Study but touchscreens are here to stay.
The problem is that Amazon's servers currently have a bug that prevents them from updating Mobipocket files. I don't know when they fix it. So, if you have any issues with OSNOVA publications just send me an email. |

Osnova,
Thanks for all the work you have done. Love my Osnova Bible on K3. Looking forward to update and using it on K fire and my wife's K Touch. Praying that Amazon begins to work better with you. |

A preannouncement:
We are finalizing our best (so far) Bible Study publication with the working title, Ultimate Greek New Testament for Absolute Beginners I welcome feedback and any thoughts about changes (add/delete something, etc.) before I have finalized it. For example, I thought about including in it Vine's Expository Dictionary of NT Words and Thayer's Lexicon but had received feedback that it would complicate the publication. P.S. drjpreston, write me an email to osnova at gmail dot com and let me know which OSNOVA title you have. |

We have released the Essential Greek New Testament for the Absolute Beginner and English-French Parallel Bible. Amazon would not sell the first, so it is available only from the OSNOVA Store.

Osnova,
Is there any time frame for your porting of your Kindle Keyboard DJV Bibles over to a Kindle Fire Android App? I find it amazing that I still have to carry my 3rd Generation Kindle Keyboard to access your International Standard Bible Encyclopedia to supplement my Tecarta Android NIV Bible on my Kindle Fire when I attend Bible Studies. I cannot imagine why Amazon did not carry forward a complete indexing system to the Kindle Fire firmware to duplicate that feature in its Kindle Keyboard line. By dropping that feature all kinds of dictionaries, bibles and encyclopedias have been made useless. |

Is there a concordance that gives the English translation and the word that is being translated? I know there are cases (especially in the NT) where the same English word is used in the translation but in the original Greek there are two different words in use.

Logos does this
Logos does this but their Android version is still in beta format and does not work well with the Kindle Fire yet.

As I have seen no mention of it here, you may be interested in the free version of the HSCB (Holman Standard Christian Bible) which, in its basic text form, is available for free from Amazon <www.amazon.com/The-Holy-Bible-Digital-ebook/dp/B0045U9UE> and also from other providers for other readers.
It is a more recent translation than the NIV, and is said by the specialists to be both closer to the texts, and easy to read, than the NIV. |

Osnova,
Will your bibles finally work on the Kindle Fire HD and the Kindle Papewhite? I was an avid fan of them on my Kindle Keyboard WiFi 3rd Generation. |

Back to your question. I am sure OSNOVA publications will "work". The question is whether Amazon will introduce features into Kindle Fire HD that are present in Kindle Keyboard (Kindle DX, Kindle 2, etc.) but not in Kindle Fire (indexing/dictionary support, quick search, etc.) Kindle Paperwhite appears to be a progeny of e-ink Kindles (not the Kindle Fire branch). As the result, it is most likely that it will be fully featured. Even with Kindle Fire's deficiencies, I find that I prefer to use it for OSNOVA publications that use a lot of links (e.g., OSNOVA Study Bible, Essential Greek NT for the Absolute Beginner, Commentaries, etc.) UPDATE: I see that they added TTS to Kindle Fire HD (but removed it from Paperwhite). So, there is still hope that other features made it to Kindle Fire HD. Last edited by osnova; 09-14-2012 at 09:55 AM. |

DVJ-2
How does DVJ-2 work? I know the first one works based on white text. Where can I find a tutorial on building an index in a mobi file?

Notes on the New Testament by Albert Barnes for the Kindle
We are happy to announce the release of Notes on the New Testament by Albert Barnes for the Kindle.
The best-selling Notes on the New Testament were written over a number of years in 11 volumes by the 19th century American theologian Albert Barnes. They contain evangelical verse-by-verse explanation of the Bible using the King James translation. Charles Spurgeon said of this commentary, “No minister can afford to be without it.” This OSNOVA Kindle edition contains complete and unabridged text of the Notes in one electronic publication, which is made easy to navigate via a Direct Verse Jump (DVJ) method, an active table of contents, and a cross-reference system between the Notes and the included Bible. The DVJ works both for the Bible and the Notes, making it easy to open any Bible verse or Notes passage. There are also other navigational aids, described in detail at the beginning of the book. We highly recommend that you take time to read the instructions on how to use this excellent study tool effectively before you dig into the book! DISCLAIMER: Not all features of this publications are supported on Kindle applications (e.g., Kindle for iPhone, iPad, or PC) or some Kindle models (e.g. original Kindle Fire). This is a limitation imposed by software developed by Amazon and is out of our control. If you have any questions or concern please email us first at osnova AT gmail DOT com. We want to provide the best service and receive five-star reviews from you! Please leave positive reviews! |
