Font Sizes on Pocket Pro

I'm thinking of buying the Pocket Pro.

Is there somewhere with an image of the 3 different font sizes on the Pocket Pro? I'd like to see the sizes. I'm particularly interested in how big the largest font looks.

Thanks.

the biggest font looks stupidly big. Of the 5 levels of zoom, I nearly always view things on the second smallest or middle setting

These things have changed with firmware versions, and will probably change again.

The font sizes and choices are getting better and better for each format. One day we'll hopefully get to a user configurable set of fonts and sizes that are applied to every format.

Font sizes upgraded on November 5

Dear all:

The latest font sizes were changed to 5 choices on the majority of formats on November 5. Yes, there is still some desire to make them user selectable, but they are much better graduated now. Size #2 seems to be pretty good for everyone.

I do not have pictures of the font sizes. Suffice it to say that they are decent on the Pocket PRO and having five selections works quite well for almost everyone.

The attached scans are from my Pocket Pro using the the November 5 firmware. They show the largest font size for a) ePub portrait and landscape, b) MOBI, c) FB2 portrait and landscape, d) HTML. Note that ePub and FB2 have 5 font sizes, but MOBI and HTML only have three (all three are portrait for MOBI, the 3rd is landscape for HTML). I used Times for all but HTML, where I used NimbusSansL-Bold.

Note that these are scans at about the resolution of the screen, but the image is likely larger on your PC's screen than on the actual device (screen dimensions 3" by 4").

Scans from HOL1_Manual_VB.pdf at SharePoint 2010. The first two are using XPDF in landscape, which has full screen and landscape modes with margin cropping but does not reflow and does not support Adobe DRM. The second two are the same page using Adobe Digital Editions, it does not crop the margins. The next two are ADE with reflow, all the text is displayed but the image is moved to the end of the page. Don't forget the actual screen is only 3" by 4", and I find the landscape full page modes to be unreadable (they do give you an idea where the images are though).

Finally there are three screenshots (not scans) of the same PDF in Sony eBook Library for Windows. These illustrate that eBL is essentially the same as mobile ADE on the Pocket Pro, except that it only has the portrait mode. So it can be used to see how your PDFs will work before buying a Pocket Pro.
