Stupid Philips.

We've thrown away all of the catalogues of suppliers and manufacturers we had because they were dirty and stinky with soot and smoke.

Today I called Osram and Philips to request new catalogues. Osram was going to try and find a catalogue for me, officially all were gone but he thought they were supposed to have a couple for emergency purposes.

The document service at Philips told me they won't be sending a new catalogue because we already got the one we are allowed to request for this year. We should just use the digital one. Which is a huge PDF file which is very hard to search and absolutely not practical in use in the store. I told him this was another reason for use to only order Philips products when no other brand has an alternative for a Philips product. I've also sent a complaint email to all the email addresses I could find.

Stupid bureaucrats!

(on the other hand, the director of the Dutch department of a big company that makes wall sockets, switches, dimmers, etc came by personally to bring us not only a new catalogue but also plates which can be hanged on the wall with the various models of their products. We hadn't even contacted the company yet but he heard it from our supplier)

Why? Why? Why?
Why do they come? Why do they spend thousands of dollars, countless hours in waiting rooms and on planes, to travel to far off lands with wonderfully different cultures, traveling with friends, only to sit and stare at this?

I shot this with my camera at lunch time, in a guest house restaurant along side of the moat around the Old City. But all they could see was their mobile phones. Amazing.

Last week I ordered new contact lenses. In December the eye specialist accidentally ordered the wrong ones for my right eye. I told the girl who helped me last week this and asked her to double check to get the right ones. She assured me she did.

She didn't. Sigh.
Normally I always take the old boxes of my contacts me with so I can check if I get the right ones but I had to throw them away because the were very dirty with soot.

I've made an appointment for tomorrow morning to get them exchanged. The problem is they don't have these contacts in stock so I have to wait until next week for the right ones and until that time I have to wear my glasses. Usually that isn't a problem but it's very warm and humid at the moment and glasses can be inconvenient then.

ARRGH!!!

Every time anything from Adobe wants me to update it tries to load the Chrome browser on my computer. So then I have to cancel the install and go back and uncheck the box that says “Load Chrome”!

I tried Chrome, and I don’t want it; if I did I’d load it. Instead Adobe keeps trying to trick me into it.

I get that too, as well as installs that want to add the 'Ask' too bar and make 'Ask' my start page. I don't want 'Ask' as my start page any more than I want 'Chrome' as my browser! So many installations these days want to add on stuff. I can never do the simple install any more...

I made a terrible mistake! The physical therapist asked me how my knee was feeling, and I told her that my knee was actually feeling a bit better. She nodded her head ... and then had me do some new exercises and stretches.

My knee hasn't hurt this bad in weeks!!!

(Rookie mistake!)

I empathise. I have just been to the Chiropractor for my back/leg pains, and he said after the treatment things might get worse before they got better. He wasn't kidding.
