Taken by the Cowboy by Julianne MacLean is a backlist time-travel-to-the-past Western historical romance, free courtesy of the Harlequin/St. Martin's Press-published author and featured as AllRomance eBooks' 12 Days of Christmas countdown for the 14th.

This is a medium-heat 3-flame novel which includes bonus excerpts from the author's other works, some of which seem to be on sale below. The author, incidentally, happens to be a fellow Canadian, and it's always nice when stuff by fellow Canadians gets offered free, even if I'm profoundly unlikely to read it.

MacLean's 99-cent sale books at ARE include a 2-flame (may only have minor romantic content and actually be a "women's fiction" title) contemporary novel published under the pseudonym E.V. Mitchell, The Color of Heaven. This is a link to the DRM-free version; the older Adobe "Secure" version costs $4.99 and the author seems to have realized her mistake in making it DRMed.

There's also a 99-cent short story, The Rebel, which is a 9200-word prequel to MacLean's apparently popular "Highlander Trilogy" published by St. Martin's Press.
