In Doctor Who a time lord is limited to 12 regenerations. Since the current Doctor is his 11th persona, that means he has only two regenerations left. What will happen to The Doctor when he reaches the end of his 13th persona? The Master tried a 13th regeneration, but he only partially regenerated and was essentially a walking corpse and has only been able to survive by hijacking other bodies (as far as at the end of the classic series).

I will officially be on vacation in approximately 35 mintues.

I'm not going anywhere but I do not have to go to work for the next 10 days. That is good enough for me.

Woohoo! Ten days of lazing, gratuitous doughnutry, plenty of reading, and a Spock's Brain supermarathon!

Why do people assume robots want to take over the world? Why couldn't robots be like us and just want to live a good life? Running the world would be hard work and it might be more than robots want to take on. Refusing to take over the world might be the true indicator of robot intelligence.

Okay, although a bit past the holiday season, this is a worthy post (even if it is posted in another thread):

Behold! The Bacon Tree!

And for those ladies around here, we need a CHOCOLATE OVERDOSE breaksfast video (but guys prefer bacon "meat candy" as shown here).

Okay, allright, here's one for the ladies:

"Chocolate world? All chocolate all the time?"

Now I hope we have enough "fair and balanced" coverage of joy-food for dudes and chicks.

Now, what was that pesky thread topic again?

That would make you a dude then. Chicks dig chocolate. My wife brings chocolate home often, but bacon? Not so often.

I heard that you can buy a bacon sundae (yes, bacon AND ice cream) at BURGER KING! At least that was the announcement (after its initial test marketing campaign in Nashville Tennessee USA was HUGELY successful):
http://newsfeed.time.com/2012/06/13/...dae-is-coming/

Now I have to go to a Burger King fast food restaurant and check it out. Now us guys do not need to eat that sissy chocolate sundae for girls. We can eat a bacon sundae! Yummy!

And thanks for reminding us that this thread is definately all about bacon.

Have we made a mistake embracing the digital for music? There's something to be said for analog. 8-track tapes were one of the high points in analog music reproduction, simple to operate and use. Cassettes were even better.

Now, things are so simple with digital but are they better? Now it's so boring, just pop a disc in and listen to music. Even simpler, we now have small devices that can carry so much music. You can carry so much music now that you don't have to make any choices about which songs you can take with you since you can take them all.

But what about the glorious days when you could carry an entire album on a tape the size of a deck of cards? The fun of making your own collections of songs on one tape, spending hours to get just the right mix of songs.

Oh well, at least we have the past.

Hmm... You must have been reading this other thread to suggest that technological regression may be in order: https://www.mobileread.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=189286
It was all about how electromagnetic fields from wireless devices are all "dangerous" and stuff (with responses containing significant factual refutation and off-topic humor).

And do not forget that those little earbuds that we stick inside ourr ears (right next to our brains) use magnetic coils that generate a modulated electromagnetic field so strong that it can actually MOVE stuff! It moves the diaghram that pushes air, which you hear as sound. And it is practically INSIDE YOUR HEAD! While it is pushing that air, the magnetic field must certainly be telling your brain that growing tumors is a good idea, right? At least that is the pseudo-scientifical method of creating convincing fact-free FUD. (I am just kidding here, but that is how all the EM scare tactics work -- same principle). Electromagnetic fields are wireless even if they are coming from earbuds or headphones. To prevent EM fields from exposing us from hidden unextected sources like speakers (especially tiny ones we actually stick into our ears), perhaps we should only be allowed to play our records on a player that does not use electricity, like an old Victrola.

Yeah, then we will be safe. Or not...
