munseys.com suggestions sought
I enjoy the hard boiled detective stories of the 20s, 30s and 40s.
I thought I would start this thread to request recommendations from those who have plumbed munseys.com. Their titles are free and are available in most formats. Any suggestions? |

Black Wings Has My Angel. A gripping tale of robbery, deceit, and murder with the obligatory beautiful but treachorous dame.

How about soft-boiled? I discovered Doan and Carstairs as well as Frederic Brown there.

Thanks, SP. I've already got The Screaming Mimi and The Fabulous Clipjoint. I guess I'll download the other Brown titles as well.
I'm not finding anything for Doan and Carstairs. Can you provide a link please? |

I assembled quite a lot of hard-boiled fiction from Munsey and other sources, but they're only available in LRF format (Sony) here at MobileRead.
In fact, you might wish to check out our Library and filter for "Mystery." Don |

Haven't read it yet, but how about The Double Take, by Roy Huggins. Huggins later found fame in Hollywood as the creator of the classic TV series The Fugitive, among others. The blurb for the book says "A hard-boiled mystery story, tougher than an ten-minute egg." Who can resist?

Thanks Catlady! Roy Huggins was the creator of one of my favorite television shows, Maverick. I'll look forward to reading this one soon!

They have a few books by David Goodis on that site - I read "Nightfall" and really enjoyed it. Tight story, sharp humor.

Thanks Jane. I thought I had downloaded all of Goodis's there already, but I saw that I had not yet done The Cop on the Corner, so I've done that one now.
