Launching Calibre from Command Prompt
I am sure that I used to be able to start Calibre in a Command Prompt window under Windows? However with the latest release it seems to appear briefly in Task manager and then disappear. This has broken my ability to run a Portable Calibre on a USB Stick.
If I try and run calibre-debug without any parameters this also fails with some references to iPython. Starting Calibre via a shortcut works OK. Any idea why this happens, and if there is a way around it? |

That gives a couple of "link hasn't been detected!" message and then seems to start up OK.

Hmm, and if you don't add the -g?

I get the following:
Code:
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>calibre-debug WARNING: help() not available - check site.py ********************************************************************** Welcome to IPython. I will try to create a personal configuration directory where you can customize many aspects of IPython's functionality in: C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\_ipython WARNING: Installation error. IPython's directory was not found. Check the following: The ipython/IPython directory should be in a directory belonging to your PYTHONPATH environment variable (that is, it should be in a directory belonging to sys.path). You can copy it explicitly there or just link to it. IPython will create a minimal default configuration for you. Please press <RETURN> to start IPython. |

that's fine, just a warning message, press return and you should get to the debug prompt

OK, but does that give me any way to find out why the calibre.exe program silently exits when I try to run it.

Yeah to do that you'd have to use a debugger.
