How to: Get a text file from PC to Kindle?
Could one of the experts list the steps needed to get a TXT file from my Windows PC onto my Kindle please?
Would the same method also work for PDF files? -- Terry, UK |

What flavor of windows are you using. When you connect your kindle to your computer , do you get a pop up menu asking what to do ? I ask because there are several ways too do this. If you know how to go to , computer or my computer and see the computer drives, you should see your kindle as a removable drive.
Click on the kindle drive icon so you can see the file systems, You will see a directory called" Documents" , that is where your kindles book files are kept. You can copy or drag and drop your text or pdf files too the document directory on your kindle and they will now be on your kindle. Hope I got that right, still low on my caffeine levels this morning! |

you can also email it, open a email address it to your kindle address (listed in your amazon acct) and attach the file. Send it and turn your wifi on on your kindle

In addition to what was said above:
-- A .txt file is always readable, and the minimal formatting possible with .txt is usually retained fairly well. -- A .pdf file can be a problem, and, if you search around the board, you'll see repeated discussions of this. If, on a PC, it looks like it would be hard to fit what is on a pdf page into a readable Kindle-sized screen, it probably is. One of the first things that could be tried is to email your pdf, as an attachment, to your kindle email address. Make sure to have this one word as the subject of that email: Convert P.S. I assumed above that you have the common 6 inch screen Kindle. The 9.7 inch Kindle DX does a better job with the more complex pdf's. Last edited by SteveEisenberg; 11-12-2011 at 07:21 PM. |
