PVI changes name to e-Ink (and another moronic article)
Our good friend Thomas Ricker over on Engadget relates :

We guess it makes sense given PVI's dominance in the ePaper industry, but we can't help but question the merits of such a move with the world lusting after multi-purpose, transflective or IPS LCD tablets capable of displaying both text or full-motion, color video... imagine if Sony had renamed itself to Betamax in the early 80s, for example.

Mr Ricker, you are either incredibly stupid or incredibly bad at what you do (dare I call you a journalist?).

Why would it be a questionable move? E-ink is all that PVI makes, unlike the author's Sony/Betamax analogy. And e-ink surely has greater customer recognition than PVI.

It's not, actually. PVI also makes a type of LCD screen.But Eink is the high profile name, so the name change makes sense.
