looking for dedicated e-reader for under $100
im looking to get a dedicated e-reader to read books on around the house and when im camping during the summer with my dad. im looking for something that is portable so im wanting around a 5 or 6 inch e-reader and im not sure what to get, the only thing it needs to be able to do is last around 8+ hours on a single charge, and be able to read mobi, epub, and pdf books, and im also wanting to stay away from any heavy os, all i need it for is to read books, and i dont need any color display. the main bulk of my books are pdf but i have quite of few in both mobi and epub formats. id like it to be backlit through either the screen itself or some attachment like the kindle e-reader cover. anyone have any suggestions?
edit: also it doesnt have to be multi touch, but has to be able to sideload and id also like to be able to organize it. Last edited by wttwoa; 03-23-2013 at 06:52 PM. |

For front lit epub readers you're looking at Kobo Glo or Nook Glowlight or one of the smaller brands that I don't really know. Kobo Glo is about $130 and I suspect Nook is >$100 too. Both have advantages and disadvantages. I love my Kobo. It has shelves, but I don't know if it will do all the organizing you want. Any e-ink should give you more battery life than you need.

The requirement for a backlight means that you're restricted to LCD devices. There are plenty of low-cost LCD tablets around.
