Does'nt display whole htm
Hi,
it would be very kind, if anybody could help me: Sigil (for mac) does not display the whole .htm document – only a fragment of it. This is, what I have done: I converted the word.doc into a htm.doc. Then I imported it into Sigil. When I open it there, only a fragment of the htm.doc is displayed. Did anyone has an idea, what may cause this? Thanks for helping, Sven |

Look at where the document ends in sigil, then open the original *.htm file in a text editor and find the corresponding place, that may give a hint... Illegal tag, missing closing tag, etc..

I think Perkin is on the right track
There is maybe a misplaced closing Legal tag (</html> or </body>) or the style block is set to 'hidden' |

Thaaank you, very much…
It helped. Some bulletpoints in my word.doc has made it impossible to convert it into .htm. But some 10.000 Words father, some proble – but no bullets, only plain text. But Sigil stopped displaying this part. Did you have any idea, why? Best, Sven |

Besides repeating the analysis others above have recommended, what I do in similar situations is to note the last visible line in Book View, then switch to Code view and look at the same place, noting any anomalies in the code in that vicinity. Sometimes it's as simple as a misplaced > or <, or a mis-spelled entity code.
Another approach would be to expand the epub, and run the .htm file through a browser to note whether the same problem exists. The Qt rendering engine used by Sigil is sometimes more finicky than a typical browser rendering engine, or so I've found. HTH |

Is HTML Tidy turned on? It can be very destructive. I'm sure it has its uses, but I haven't discovered them yet :-)

Change your conversion process. The HTML output from Word is cumbersome to say the least. Further more, try to avoid lists. If you can't, use simple lists and not with complicated symbols or nested.

Or you might try to run the HTML-file through a validation service like the W3C Validator
It's quite amazing, what it can find ) Regards, Kim |
