µBook 2008r2b - now also supports Mobile 6 Phones
What's new in µBook 2008r2b
Fixed crash problem on second run on most platforms Fixed problem re-opening current book on second run What's new in µBook 2008r2 Added Windows Mobile 6 / SmartPhone 3.0+ builds. See cursor mode below and on getting Started page. Added new cursor mode toggle control and new mapping for cursor keys. The whole of uBook (except text entry...) can now be controlled with the five keys: up, down, left, right and center button. The control 'wheel' can be skinned, the default resides in uBook.usk To use, press and hold the Enter Key/Center Button. The Control overlay will appear and then you can either: Release the button, which will then cause the equivalent of a click/tap at the given cursor location Press and release the left or right button to toggle the current cursor mode. Press and release the up button to initiate a sticky click, when you want to select some text. Pread and release the down button to cancel the click. Added option to assign functions to Cursor keys and modified Down/Up Arrow now control Auto-Scroll instead of Enter or Main Button. Changed uBook path management to be portable. Path that can be made relatives are made relative to uBook.exe on exit in uBook.ini. i.e. if you have c:/uBook/uBook.exe and c:/Books/Crime/1emujk.htm then on save it becomes %EXE%../Books/Crime/1emujk.htm. so if you move both c:/uBook and c:/Books to d:/temp/ then when starting d:/temp/uBook/uBook.exe you will have the same settings as before. Added <<//>> to drive list to allow entering manual path, including //server/service/ form. uBook cannot list service, so //server/ will have an empty folder list Added 'reset styles at end of paragraph' option for PML and TXT Added hiding of cursor (like windows pointer) after timeout (5 secs). Replaced space.usk by spaced.usk, a much better looking one, and updated the skin creation info inside the file. Also changed builds to use spaced.usk as startup skin Added variables to skins (see spaced.usk VAR=name:expression) Added zip win32 distribution (for Linux wine OR defectives OSs) Changed partial font file to full font file in PC distribution, to solve init issue under WINE Fixed installer icon creation (incompatible with NT 4.0 and below from now on -- use zip file instead) Fixed resizing flashing issue on black (f9) background Fixed comment problem in HTML, Crash with some jpg images |

Now there's something I think we ALL can agree on! Best 15 bucks I ever spent related to reading and one of the most important things on my travel drive.

Ubook author has also setup an official forum where you can ask for what more options do you want or need in it.

Certainly the software I used the most on all platform, since 2004!
I currently still have a late 2007 version that works fine on my windows Mobile 2006 device. µBook has always worked flawlessly on every device I possessed over the years : VGA Windows Mobile PDA, Square Screen WM PDA, WM6, on XP and Vista, even on a 5" WinCE Samsung Nexio Tablet I had for a few months. And you can't beat the amount of customization This software offer. I even created my own skin for it. Last edited by Faenad; 08-23-2008 at 08:18 PM. |
