Question about 'database disk image is malformed'
Hello,
I encountered this error today, and am not sure the cause. Hopefully you'll be able to give me some guidance. I installed the latest (9.27) version I downloaded a library book (Adobe DRM) I downloaded Adobe Digital Editions I didn't know what to do, so I put imported the book into Calibre and tried to add it to my device (Kobo Glo) I got a message saying that my device wasn't authorized for Adobe DRM I opened ADE, and authorized my device I restarted ADE, Calibre, and my device many, many times trying to figure out why it was not working I tried copying the book onto the device in File Manager (still didn't work) I removed it I uninstalled Calibre and reinstalled an earlier version (the one I was previously on) I removed the book and metadata from Calibre completely, and re-imported it I deauthorized my device from ADE. I reauthorized it. I can't think of anything else to do. ADE seems to now think that the book is on my device, and Calibre doesn't show me anything, and gives me this error. I can't find the book on my device and just want this to work. Any advice would be helpful. Thanks. calibre, version 0.9.23 ERROR: Error: Error communicating with device database disk image is malformed Traceback (most recent call last): File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 85, in run File "site-packages\calibre\gui2\device.py", line 470, in _books File "site-packages\calibre\devices\kobo\driver.py", line 1658, in books DatabaseError: database disk image is malformed |

This is a Kobo damage DB (caused) error. Calibre can't work with damaged DB's (Kobo or any others)
There should be a Kobo menu item to cause it to be rebuilt |

Rebuild is done one of two ways. Either do a factory reset which will then need you to redo firmware upgrade as well as redoing the setup and reloading all content, or so a sign-out from the account (Settings Account sign out). This will delete the database and again make y you redo setup but will leave side loaded content alone and not need the firmware upgrades to be redone.
