Now, now. The wine is, of course, named after the region, which is named after the largest European empire nobody has ever heard of.

Problem on Fedora: ./kindletool: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory

I've also tryed softlinking my version with:
ln -s libcrypto.so.1.0.1e libcrypto.so.1.0.0

But nothing

In what directory path?
And is this a 32bit or a 64bit Fedora (mention release number) installation?

I might be able to guess from that information, otherwise you will have to enable the ld-linux.so loader tracking environment var.
I would name it here - if I remembered its name.

/usr/lib if I'm not wrong

Fedora 19, 64 bit gnome distro

And if i softlink that to /usr/lib64 I get: ./kindletool: error while loading shared libraries: libcrypto.so.1.0.0: cannot open shared object file: Error 40

EDIT: I've softlinked the real libcrypto.so.1.0.0 from calibre libs, instead of 1.0.1e, into the /usr/lib64 folder and now it's ok

That (/usr/lib) does not sound right for a RedHat, 64bit, install.

twobob is about to help with reporting where the loader is looking.

3.3.2. LD_DEBUG

Another useful environment variable in the GNU C loader is LD_DEBUG. This triggers the dl* functions so that they give quite verbose information on what they are doing. For example:
export LD_DEBUG=files
command_to_run
displays the processing of files and libraries when handling libraries, telling you what dependencies are detected and which SOs are loaded in what order. Setting LD_DEBUG to ``bindings'' displays information about symbol binding, setting it to ``libs'' displays the library search paths, and setting ti to ``versions'' displays the version depdendencies.

Setting LD_DEBUG to ``help'' and then trying to run a program will list the possible options. Again, LD_DEBUG isn't intended for normal use, but it can be handy when debugging and testing.

EXAMPLE:
export LD_DEBUG=files,libs
eips "me"

Code:
     22056:
     22056:	file=/usr/lib/libenvload.so [0]; needed by eips [0]

EDIT: I've softlinked the real libcrypto.so.1.0.0 from calibre libs, instead of 1.0.1e, into the /usr/lib64 folder and now it's ok
should not be required on a linux system -
but that is a side-effect of the RedHat libcrypto build not being compatible.

well, for now, working is working

Released 1.6.0.

A crapload of changes. Most importantly, PW2 support, but also a whole lot of tweaks behind the scenes.

Released 1.6.2.

We should now be aware of all the current PW2 models. (The last missing one was the Canadian 2G PW2).
