Nachdem mit "Romola" zuletzt ein hierzulande so gut wie unbekanntes Werk der großen englischen Romanautorin George Eliot erstmals in deutscher Übersetzung eingestellt wurde, sollen natürlich die populäreren Werke, die ihren Ruhm begründeten, hier auch nicht fehlen.
Zunächst also "Adam Bede", in einer grundsoliden Übersetzung aus dem Jahre 1890, erschienen im Reclam-Verlag.
