Thanks for the headsup VydorScope. Looks like there might be some good deals this week.

Yeah, I opted all my books in I participated last year, and found it a great way to get your books into the hands of readers.

What is the advantage of participating in this ebook week thing over just making your book free/discounted for a limited period at other times (using coupons or whatever)? I mean: I don't expect to change my reading habits just because someone somewhere is calling a particular week "ebook week", so I have a bit of trouble seeing this as anything that useful. And if everyone else is doing the same thing at the same time, isn't the "special" pricing of you book likely to lost in the flood?
Of course I would be happy to be educated out of my ignorance on this subject. * It's also coming at a bad time for me - I was hoping to have the third and concluding book to my series out before I started to try and do much about promotion. But I've got so much on that everything is being delayed. |

The advantage is that Smashwords is promoting it - as are other authors. So you get to ride on their coattails. I will still sell more at Amazon this month then I will at Smash, but there will be new sales this week (already have been) that I would not have gotten otherwise. That is new readers for my series and that is the real goal of all of this. Connecting readers with my books for their enjoyment.
The odd thing is typically half the people will still pay full price, even though you have the discount up. I am grateful, but baffled by that. |

Yes, Read an Ebook Week is, as Martha would say, a good thing.
