From that clue I would guess the comic is The Smurfs.

9. Bill Bailey?

Riiight, Beetle Bailey. The cartoonist is Mort Walker, that much I remember. He did something with Jerry Dumas, but I can't remember what it was, I don't think it ever came here, but I have a vague recollection of reading it in the Comics section of the Hartford Courant on Sundays.

Peyo created The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs) in 1958/59. I can't believe that nobody recognized the signature Peyo until now, but I'm just glad someone recognized the smurfs from the quiz. The answer to question 9 is Beetle Bailey, but Kumabjorn beat you to it, I'm afraid. One point to you, orlok

Correct! Addison Morton Walker, better known as Mort Walker, sometimes called Addison, created Beetle Bailey in 1950, and Bailey is still going strong. Walker hired Jerry Dumas to assist him in his many daily comic strips, Two points to you, Kumabjorn

One point for each correct answer. Where I ask what comics a person has created, you get one point for each comic. "Create" in this case does not neccessarily mean "invented", but only that the artist worked with this comic in one way or another.
  1. What artist used the pseudonym "Moebius"? What comic(s) did this artist create?
Mœbius' full name is Jean Henri Gaston Giraud, short Jean Giraud. He also signed some comics as "Gir" - orlok 1 point
He created Blueberry together with Jean-Michel Charlier, but has created many other comics
  2. What comic artist is behind the pseudonym RobVel? What comic(s) did this artist create?
Robert Velter created the famous bell-boy Spirou in 1938. The character later evolved to be reporter and adventurer.
  3. What comic artist used the pseudonym "Peyo"? What comic(s) did this artist create?
Pierre Culliford signed his comics with the name Peyo
This artist created The Smurfs (Les Schtroumpfs) - orlok 1 point
  4. What famous comic was drawn by Hal Foster? What other comic(s) did he create?
Hal Foster created Prince Valiant - Bookpossum 1 point
He also worked on Tarzan from 1929 to 1937.
  5. What artist used the pseudonym "Jijé"? What comic(s) did this artist create?
Jijé is pseudonum for Joseph Gillain who took over Rob-Vels Spirou in 1940, when RobVel was wounded. Among his creations is Jerry Spring, one of Europes first noticable comics.
  6. What comic artist used the pen name "Hergé"? What comic(s) did this artist create?
The full name of Hergé is Georges Prosper Remi - pdurrant 1 point, orlok 1 point
He created Tintin - Shayne Parkinson 1 point
  7. What comic(s) were created by Hugo Pratt?
Hugo Pratt is most famous for having created Corto Maltese, a comic which combines adventure and historic settings. The drawing are fantastic-looking both in colours and in black-and-white.
  8. Comic artists drawing Donald Duck are not allowed to sign their comics in any way. Yet, one artist does sign most of his series "D.U.C.K". What artist and what does the letters mean?
I am surprised that no one found the answer to this one. Keno Don Rosa is educated engineer, but sold his company in 1986 and started drawing Donald Duck for Gladstone Publishing. He is now retired because of problems with his eyes. He made his last comic in 2006. Because of his very special style of drawing, he is almost as iconic as Donald Duck himself, and one of the most famous Duck artists.
In the opening panel of many of his stories the reader can find the letters "D.U.C.K.". This is not really a signature since Disney doesn't allow signatures in their comics, but it's a dedication to The Good Artist, Carl Barks. The letters mean "Dedicated to Uncle Carl from Keno".
  9. What famous american comic artist signed some of his series "Addison"? What comic(s) did this artist create?
Addison Morton Walker (Mort Walker) created Beetle Bailey in 1950 - Kumabjorn 1 point
He also created Hi and Lois together with Dik Browne. Under the pseudonym "Addison", Walker began Boner's Ark in 1968. Other comic strips created by Walker include Gamin & Patches, Mrs. Fitz's Flats, The Evermores, Sam's Strip and Sam and Silo, the last two with Jerry Dumas.
He has created other strips together with Jerry Dumas - Kumabjorn 1 point
  10. What comic artist used the pseudonym "Jack Kirby"? What comic(s) did this artist create?
    Jacob Kurtzberg
He wrote The Fantastic Four and Captain America for Marvel - orlok 2 points
  11. What comic artist is known throughout Europe as "Morris"? What comic(s) did this artist create?
Morris' full name is Maurice De Bevere
Morris created the comic Lucky Luke in 1946 - Kumabjorn 1 point
  12. Who created "Calvin and Hobbes"?
Bill Watterson - Dreams 1 point
  13. Who created the comic "Pogo"?
Walt Kelly - Bookpossum 1 point
  14. Who created the comic "Crazy Cat"?
George Herriman created Krazy Kat in 1913
  15. Who created the comic "Peanuts"?
    Charles M. Schultz - Dreams 1 point
  16. What is the name of this comic character? The name is the same in the english and the original french edition. What artist created this character? What comic(s) did this artist create?

The name of this creature is Marsupilami, created by André Franquin. This artist worked on Spirou and Fantasio from 1946-1968, he also created Gaston Lagaffe (I have no idea what this character is called in english), Isabelle and others

Current score:
orlok: 5 points
Kumabjorn: 3 point
Dreams: 2 points
Bookpossum: 2 point
pdurrant: 1 point
Shayne Parkinson: 1 point

Some hints are given here and here

It sounded like that to me

Since no more answers has come in the last couple of days, I declare Orlok to be the winner of the comics quiz.

The correct answers can be found here. It lookes like comics was a difficult subject. The unanswered questions was mostly related to european artists, but also some questions related to american comics was unanswered. I am especially surprised that noone recognized Don Rosa as the Duck artist in question #8.

Over to Orlok for the next quiz

Thanks. A good quiz topic, if a little obscure for some, possibly. I have always been a comic fan, but sadly do not always pay attention to the creators .

Here goes, a general knowledge quiz (all one-word answers):

1. Which Gemstones take their name from the Ancient Greek for ‘Unbreakable’?

2. What is the first name of the wife of US President Barack Obama?

3. The Greek Titan Prometheus stole what from the Greek Gods and gave it to mortals?

4. What was the nickname of trumpeter John Birks Gillespie?

5. What relation was Psychoanalyst Sigmund Freud to artist Lucien Freud?

6. What is the real surname of the action actor Vin Diesel?

7. Which battle was fought in present-day Belgium on 18 June 1815?

8. Jackson is the capital of which US state?

9. What is the first name of the (Liverpool) soccer striker Torres?

10. What connects the answers to the previous nine questions?

Edit: Since we are a litterate forum, a (perhaps) well-known fact is that the novel "Frankenstein" has the title "The Modern Prometheus" - Victor Frankenstein tamed the thunder and the nature to create the creature
