I have updated metadate in calibre for my books in epub format,all books where updated same way but some books show up as author unkown anyone know why....Thanks

Might be a bit of a simplistic answer, but you probably didn't put in any author.

File is epub have tried to open and check opf file but cannot figure out how, any ideas?

Probably one of the easiest ways is to use the Sigil EPUB editor, which has it's own forum here on MobileRead.

Used sigil editor but metadata is identical in two books one of which displays author unknown & other which has author name displayed?????
