Would someone correct me if I am wrong but I believe that this news is approxiatly two years old. By now ebooks are probably accounting for 3/4 of all amazon book sales. I remember seeing an article by the American Bookpublisher's association saying that ebooks account for somehting like 35% of all books sold from all their member publishers. My take on this being within the next two years ebooks will acount for a majority of all books sold by all american publishers.

You're wrong. Look at the date on the article.

I have had 4 people who told me they had never bought anything online before receiving a kindle as a gift but they now buy ebooks from Amazon. All seem happy with the experience and are thinking that online shopping is do-able. Like the mail order from their youth but faster. Maybe good, maybe not.

I definitely buy (and read) many more books than I did before. It's just so much more convenient. I get a lot of free books too, but if I want a book, I just buy it, and I always buy the e-book even if it's more than the paperback because I don't want to accumulate physical books in my house.

This happened in the US a few years back. The confusion is that it just happened in the UK.
I suspect that BN has seen a similar trend in the US. |

I'm not going to take the time to look it up, but my recollection is that Amazon's US eBook sales have overtaken both hardbacks and paperbacks separately, but not combined.

I'd like these stats separated amongst price points. I'm guessing the majority of these sales are for those cheap 0.99 books or at the lower end of the price range. It would be interesting to see how the numbers compare to those books where paper and ebooks are about the same or paper starts to be cheaper than the ebook version.

Actually it would be interesting to see what the figures are for some specific titles, those that are available in hard back, paper back and eBook.
