IMO text-to-speech isn't anywhere close to the same as an audiobook.

I totally agree. Unfortunately, publishers believe otherwise and frequently disallow it.

I have been using text-to-speech for a very long time now. I find it decent enough. It really depends on the voices really. This is a nice tip.

If you want text to speech then I highly recommend downloading Voice Dream. This is an awesome app for reading just about all formatted ebooks except Kindle. The voices are very realistic and it has all the options of an ereader.
