http://www.amazon.com/Novels-Penguin...ymond+chandler Omnibus is 9.99 :- Raymond Chandler created the fast talking, trouble seeking Californian private eye Philip Marlowe for his first great novel The Big Sleep in 1939. Marlowe's entanglement with the Sternwood family - and an attendant cast of colourful underworld figures - is the background to a story reflecting all the tarnished glitter of the great American Dream. The detective's iconic image burns just as brightly in Farewell My Lovely, on the trail of a missing nightclub crooner. And the inimitable Marlowe is able to prove that trouble really is his business in Raymond Chandler's brilliant epitaph, The Long Goodbye. |

Dead Wood by Dani Amore In the exclusive enclave of Grosse Pointe, Michigan, a woman who builds custom guitars is murdered. A disgraced ex-cop turned private investigator is hired by the dead woman's father and immediately becomes the target of a violent ex-convict. An enigmatic music star performs damage control on her links to the dead woman. And a professional killer who idolizes Keith Richards is brought into town by a mysterious employer. "Dead Wood is a fast-paced, unpredictable mystery with an engaging narrator and a rich cast of original supporting characters." --Thomas Perry, Edgar-winning author of The Butcher's Boy. "From its opening lines, Dani Amore and her private eye novel DEAD WOOD recall early James Ellroy. This is the first new private eye novel in a long time that just swept me along for the ride. Amore is definitely one to watch." -- Edgar-nominated author Craig McDonald |

Wow - apparently T. Jefferson Parker is self-publishing some of his backlist, and they are very cheap right now - starting at $.99, plus one freebie.

I started a thread about the SF Gateway sale a couple of weeks ago. I've just noticed that orion's second backlist imprint, The Murder Room, is running a similar sale, dropping all their prices from £4.99 to £2.99 here in the uk. This includes John Dickson Carr, Anthony Price and many others.
I'm not sure of any availability outside the UK. |

I'm not seeing a press release for this one, maybe amazon UK have jumped the gun with the price changes. I don't know when the sale is officially meant to run.
Hmm, no, they're the same at kobo. |

Also, thanks to you and DrNefario for the Orion info, and doing the search. Antony Price is another I've been wanting to read for a while. Fingers crossed for some sale prices. |

Another L. Ron Hubbard freebie on Amazon:
Carnival of Death (Stories from the Golden Age) Discover intrigue and suspense. Working deep undercover to break up a purported drug ring operating at Shreve's Mammoth Carnival, US narcotics agent Bob Clark discovers first one and then another headless body. Others believe the gruesome murders are solved after four tribal headhunters working for the show suddenly disappear, but Clark suspects someone else is the real killer. When he finds himself seized by the very same headhunters, Clark sincerely hopes his hunch is right, since the point of a very sharp knife is aimed at his neck! ALSO INCLUDES THE MYSTERY STORY "THE DEATH FLYER" |

Whilst looking for The Murder Room mysteries I came across this freebie:
The Spymaster Murders Trevelyn http://www.amazon.com/Spymaster-Murd...master+murders Don't know anything about the author or the book. Here's the blurb: An impossible murder, a killing in a locked room and the disappearance of a senior military figure become a baptism of fire for Wing Commander Derek Rigby. The story unfolds at Aldergrove in Northern Ireland, as a distant war rages over the Falkland Islands in the South Atlantic. Rigby must solve the murders, expose a deep-cover Soviet agent and sort out his catastrophic personal life in a case which sets him on the path to becoming the senior counter-intelligence operative we meet, decades later, in the Monica Jones Mysteries (The Sheffield Conspiracy and The Priests of Orion). All the clues and signposts are laid out for the reader in a puzzle which pays tribute to the Golden Age of British detective fiction. Last edited by Lynx-lynx; 12-15-2012 at 04:07 PM. |
