I installed both Tahoma and Arial. I can switch CR to display them, but the Greek characters are still not displayed. Does anyone have any other ideas? Thanks, Rocky |

I have a small book converted from html to EPUB and noticed that images within very simple tables don't show well on an android version of Cool Reader.
Code:
<table> <tr> <td><img src="note.jpg"></td> <td><b>note</b><br>NIFS Mission Statement: The National Institute for Fitness and Sport is committed to enhancing human health, physical fitness, and athletic performance through research, education, and service.</td> </tr> </table> Anyway to fix that? Another thing is the table borders - they are always there, even when i specify border="0". I surprised! Last edited by Starko; 03-17-2012 at 09:33 AM. |

CoolReader 3 on Pocketboook Pro 902 vs FBreader
I just noticed the last couple of books that there's distinct difference in appearance between CoolReader 3 and FBreader. With CR3, I've found that all my text lately appears to be "center justified". However, if I switch over to FBreader, then the normal "left justification" holds true.
I've not noticed this before, but perhaps it's something to do with the books I'm reading, but it's frustrating, I've tried extracting the epub files, checking all the stylesheets and accompanying documents for any justification commands, and changed "align: center" to "align: left" wherever I can find it, but nothing changes in CR3. Makes the text very hard to read with short lines being spaced out across the page. Anybody else noticed this, any ideas what I can do to fix it? Thanks, Dan |

I'm having an issue with CR also. In any book I load from Calibre the contractions come up like this " I' m going to the store" or "There' s things going on here" with at least 2 spaces after the apostrophe, it's not a deal breaker but other reader apps do not do this, is this a simple fix or something I'm stuck with?
Thanks |

This is what it looks like in 2 books if you look at anything that uses an apostrophe there will be a couple of spaces after it and then the d or the s whichever is applicable. This is from a stock app nothing was changed in the reader except the font size but it does it in font and size.
Thanks. Last edited by dreams; 05-27-2012 at 02:11 PM. Reason: copyright material removed by moderation |

The example I posted doesn't show what I mean? I'm confused, every book does this when it's imported by calibre. Hmmm I havent tried to directly add epub files to the cr3 directory. oh and this is on a samsung galaxy 10.1 if that matters but i don't know why it would because none of the other ereader apps display this type of behavior.

The images you posted show what you mean. However, to find the cause I need to look at the book (the epub). What I had in mind was to check the source HTML to see what character is actually used for the single quote.

Well considering that it happens on every book that I import from calibre I would assume it's something having to do with my tablet and cool reader together but here's a file from calibre.

I have been following your discussion with some interest because it seemed a really unusual problem. So, I downloaded your sample to try it out. Your book seems to display perfectly in my copy of CoolReader on my Transformer Prime tablet. CoolReader has a huge number of display configuration settings so it is quite probable that my settings are not the same as yours. But, maybe my results will help just_me to help you? FWIW, your book appears to be UTF-8 encoded, and your apostrophe characters are encoded as 3 bytes.

Another option would be to convert the files to use regular ' and ", but that will be harder than just placing a font in the proper place ... |

Nope no fonts in the font folder. I cannot remember when this started but I do know that it just started happening. Unfortunately I cannot seem to remember anything that I changed to make this happen either.

I was asking Dave_S if he has any fonts because for him it's working properly. I saw the book wants to use Times New Roman. Maybe you can try to add this font and see what happens.

Yes, I have quite a lot of fonts in my fonts folder. At the moment, CoolReader is configured to use the Droid Sans font for books that I read. I have "document internal styles" enabled, but "Document embedded fonts" is disabled. Droid Sans is also set as the fallback font. FWIW, Times New Roman is not one of the fonts in my font folder. |
