CES 2010 jetBook LITE Hands On Demo

hey everyone! i was able to make it to the CES show this year and eReaders were the BOMB!

literally the only booths that were worth seeing had to be the Tech section filled with readers. i obviously went directly for the Ectaco jetBook since they are MY FAVORITES and actually got one of the reps to do a hands on demo of the new jetBook LITE.

its the only one on 4 AA batteries, uses TFT instead of e-ink, expandable up to 32GB via SD Card, and actually comes pre-loaded with 100 popular classics!

Hope you guys enjoy this!

An absolute show stopper. Let me tell you guys something, i walked to every single eBook booth at CES and couldn't find one better.

Even the eReaders in the upper price range still use eInk which is the most annoying thing when you flip the page.

Agree. I don't know why other companies don't produce ebook readers with AA or AAA batteries.

It's cause this uses a cheaper display Kris77. I assume it'd be more plausible that way.

The Jetbook Lite looks appealing. Things that look good to me from the video are the price, changeable folders, the fast page turns with the tft screen, how the font sizes are expressed, the dictionary and the great translator.

Not sure the AA batteries are a good idea as the device only has 23 hours of battery life, also it is a little on the heavy side at 9oz for a 5" reader. Perhaps the bumps at the battery compartment could potentially be annoying (or maybe a good way to grip the reader?). Also no cover; but is a sweet price. Aesthetically it is ok.

Thanks for the video, LuBiB!

I really wanted to see a jetBook 2.0 with better design and beefier specs for the LCD and processor. However, I have my doubts they'll do anything but try to dominate the bottom-end of the market while they still have a price advantage. I guess I'll be waiting for next-gen e-paper (Liquavista, Mirasol) readers to hit the market instead.

Thanks for the video, LuBiB!
It'd be good if they mentioned the type of battery. If they're alkaline (probably the most common 'regular' batteries) then lithium AA should give at least 100 hours use.
