@ali
They figured out after the second mail what the problem was, so somebody might have run into this before.
Not that I'd feel bad about being the first to crash some system, I'm used to it :-)
(Luckily the first Iliad that was bricked wasn't mine...)

Btw:
10/09/2006 Order not comfirmed
10/09/2006 Order comfirmed, processing
10/13/2006 Shipping started

Please make them deliver on saturdays,
Did I mention that I live less than an hour away (by motorbike) from their stockpoint?

Ooooom.
Another fresh week's shrink-wrap is opened, hissing as the vacuum is filled with air smelling of freshly brewed coffee.
Another day that might be the first one with an electronic device readable in sunlight has begun.
I'm wondering what "Shipping started" means. Did my parcel leave the headquarters of the paper based books nightmares yet?
Or was friday the day where the powers that be decided on which device to send to me by the end of this week?
Will "they" send me a tracking number by email to check every other minute?
Will my customers take "I was waiting for my Iliad" as a plausible excuse?
Is the world really in need for another Iliad-unwrapping-porn?
Are there people who cannot read this thread anymore because some censorware eats it after I mentioned "porn" twice?

The Iliad arrived. I had to run after the UPS-guy because he only waited for about 2 Seconds at the door.
The device is great, the UI/Navigation is cumbersome (Why doesn't Cupertino buy iRex) but usable, I haven't installed the update yet.
I can read the text I bought the Iliad for _very_ easily.
The rendering of the pages is (already, I'm on
2.6.1) not too slow.
I'm very happy and going to spend the rest of my day reading in the sun...

The new update really is worth it...but why are we talking about this in the Official Meditation thread?
In my time we used to come here when the Iliad delivery was delayed again...^^

In the meantime I installed the update, it's really worth it.
The Iliad completely destroyed my productivity today :-)
I tried a lot of stuff and might write it down within the next days - I'm even going to have my calendar in it for the remaining months. It woks very very good for me.
I started writing some scripts to automatically convert stuff and move it to the Iliad (ical, addressbook, mail) and will spend a day "on the road" without powerbook.

Hello again

to myself in the cozy meditation thread.

Here I am still stuck with 2.7.1 though the promised patch of freedom was shining at the horizon and I'd have had a whole weekend to spend on tinkering. Eg: I'd sooo love having Ruby on the iLiad.

Irex didn't send me the skeleton key for the dungeon my iLiad is locked in within 24 hours. That's kind of okay for a manual process, and things go wrong (as I already learned when trying to order an iLiad for the first times), but still...

Well, however, divine plans seldomly work out as mere mortals expect them to. I'm somewhat dissappointed that I'm going to have to clean out the basement and fix the garden for winter :-(

Ooooooooooom...

I've begun organizing all of my documents and ebooks, preparing them for the iliad. Hopefully I can achieve my life long dream of riding hard copy from my life.
